1999 to 2001:
Developed and managed all phases of a variety of consulting engagements,
including semiconductor automation programs, and PC replacement and
deployment for large global corporations:
- Managed program to design, code and install NT-based equipment
automation in an existing 200 mm semiconductor factory.
- Developed proposals for a wide variety of consultancy engagements,
several of which were awarded to Compaq.

Manager, IT Systems and Operations,
Intel Corporation, Rio Rancho, NM
1987 to 1998:
Provided technical consulting and directed continuous improvement
projects for integrated Automation systems supporting the company's
flagship factory:
- Changed database architecture from a traditional central database
to a client/server design, and migrated database server from VAX to Alpha.
This resulted in savings of more than $10 million for the company, and
dramatic improvements in throughput and response time for users.
- Created and implemented improvements to eliminate downtime and
correct application failures, using automated monitoring and
notification.
Provided OpenVMS and network infrastructure and operations, and
database administration in support of integrated automation systems
for the startup of two new factories. Recognized company-wide as
one of the technical experts on both OpenVMS and operation and
integration of Intel's Factory Automation systems:
- Converted the overall system and database maintenance
philosophy from a traditional, downtime intensive model to a continuous,
near-lights out operation.
- Sustained the systems, using on-call staff rotation and
continuous improvement techniques, to exceed goal of 99.9% availability
to users.
- Developed processes for working with key vendors,
emphasizing teamwork and partnership, which resulted in greatly improved
support from the vendors, and became the role-model for vendor
management in the factory.

Supported the VMS systems and WorkStream DBMS Databases for three
factories at the West Jordan manufacturing plant:
- Planned and executed software and hardware upgrades, maintained
DBMS database, and performed upgrades and conversions of the database.
- Installed and maintained Consilium's WorkStream MES system, and
created the entire WorkStream model for a startup factory.
