Technology Consultant, Compaq Computer Corporation, Cupertino, CA, 1999 to 2001:
Developed and managed all phases of a variety of consulting engagements, including semiconductor automation programs, and PC replacement and deployment for large global corporations:

  • Managed program to design, code and install NT-based equipment automation in an existing 200 mm semiconductor factory.
  • Developed proposals for a wide variety of consultancy engagements, several of which were awarded to Compaq.

  • Created and implemented improvements to eliminate downtime and correct application failures, using automated monitoring and notification.

Provided OpenVMS and network infrastructure and operations, and database administration in support of integrated automation systems for the startup of two new factories. Recognized company-wide as one of the technical experts on both OpenVMS and operation and integration of Intel's Factory Automation systems:

  • Converted the overall system and database maintenance philosophy from a traditional, downtime intensive model to a continuous, near-lights out operation.
  • Sustained the systems, using on-call staff rotation and continuous improvement techniques, to exceed goal of 99.9% availability to users.
  • Developed processes for working with key vendors, emphasizing teamwork and partnership, which resulted in greatly improved support from the vendors, and became the role-model for vendor management in the factory.

IT Systems Manager, National Semiconductor Corporation, West Jordan, UT, 1983 to 1987
Supported the VMS systems and WorkStream DBMS Databases for three factories at the West Jordan manufacturing plant:
  • Planned and executed software and hardware upgrades, maintained DBMS database, and performed upgrades and conversions of the database.
  • Installed and maintained Consilium's WorkStream MES system, and created the entire WorkStream model for a startup factory.

Process Engineer and Production Supervisor, Digital Equipment Corporation, Hudson, MA, 1979 to 1983:
Maintained and improved manufacturing processes in the Diffusion and Electrical Test areas.

Hired and managed staff, and helped develop standard operating procedures for the new factory.

Production Supervisor, National Semiconductor Corporation, Santa Clara, CA, 1979:
Supervised direct labor in Photo and Etch areas.

Production Supervisor/Technician, American Microsystems, Inc., Pocatello, ID, 1976 to 1979:
Supervised direct labor in Thin Films area.
